So you have 4 tickets, eh?
Worried about how that might affect your car insurance?
Well, to put it bluntly, you definitely have a reason to worry. But that’s only because your current insurance company will cancel your renewal when they find out.
Rates might be better than you expect them to be
What you don’t need to worry about is your rates suddenly becoming astronomical, at least in most cases.
See, every insurance company has a threshold as to the number of tickets they’ll allow in a 3-year period before they’ll refuse to insure you. With most of the regular insurance companies that number is 3. So, if you have 4 tickets and you’re with a regular insurance company, they will refuse to insure you.
Getting insurance with a high risk insurance company
That just means that you’ll have to get your car insurance elsewhere – Specifically, with a high risk insurance company. That equates to a little more work for you in terms of making a few phone calls and signing some papers.
However, like I said before, that does not mean that your rates will suddenly skyrocket. As long as the rest of your record is good, your rate will still be reasonable. Some other factors that might negatively affect you is your age, driving experience, and where you live.
Of course, every situation is different. Call me and we can talk about your situation, specifically. Looking forward to hearing from you!
