Are you wondering if Belair insures drivers convicted of a DUI offense?
Here’s the answer:
NO!
That goes for any of the direct car insurance companies that operate in Ontario, including Co-Operators, Desjardins, and TD Insurance.
Your renewal will be cancelled
If you’re insured with Belair or any of these companies, they will cancel your renewal after you’re convicted of a DUI-related conviction. If you call looking for a new quote, they’ll also decline to quote you.
So what do you do, then?
If you’ve been convicted of anything DUI related, including impaired, over .08 blood-alcohol volume, or refuse breathalyzer, you’ll have to speak to a broker.
Brokers have more options
Brokers are able to insure the types of policies that the direct companies are unable or unwilling to do.
If you call me, for example, I will quote you with all five of the high risk insurance companies that operate in Ontario and then give you the lowest rate from the bunch. And, don’t worry – The rates are usually not as bad as you’d expect them to be.
So, don’t be too concerned if companies like Belair refuse to insure you after an impaired conviction. There are still plenty of options that a broker can provide.
