These are the high risk insurance companies that insure drivers in Ontario:
Echelon
Echelon is my favourite and most of my clients are insured with them. They’re my favorite because they’re easy to deal with. Policies get issued relatively quickly and their call centre picks up calls quickly. Echelon is owned by CAA.
Economical
Economical is also one of my favourites, mainly because they’re the only high risk insurance company that also does property insurance (home, condo, and tenants). That means that they’re the only one that will offer a multi-line discount if you insure your property, which could really be a significant discount in many cases.
Jevco
Jevco is owned by Intact and is probably one of the best known of all of the high risk insurance companies. If you remember Kingsway Insurance from over a decade ago, it was Jevco that bought Kingsway.
Coachman
Coachman is owned by SGI. They usually have really good rates for drivers that have been convicted of DUI.
Pafco
Pafco is owned by Pembridge and is also a great company.
